Lorde donates over $200k to Minnesota immigrant funds after ICE clashes

4 février 2026 à 09:31

Lorde has shared that she is donating proceeds from her official merch sales in Minneapolis to funds that support immigrants in Minnesota.

Posting to her Instagram stories on 3 February, Lorde shared a photo of her hand with the words ‘ICE OUT’ written on it in marker. The image was accompanied by the text: “I’m donating our merch take in Minneapolis ($204K) to Minnesota Immigration Rights Action Committee and Immigrant Defense Network.”

The pledge comes after the deaths of Renee Good, who was killed by an ICE agent on 7 January, and Alex Pretti, who was fatally shot by a Border Patrol officer on 24 January.

Lorde joins many musicians, including Billie Eilish, Ariana Grande and Chappell Roan, that have come out against US Immigration and Customs Enforcement and in support of those protesting it.

American music legend Bruce Springsteen recently released a new song, titled ‘Streets of Minneapolis’, dedicated to those protesting ICE.

Upon the release of the song on 28 January, Springsteen wrote on his website: “I wrote this song on Saturday, recorded it yesterday and released it to you today in response to the state terror being visited on the city of Minneapolis. It’s dedicated to the people of Minneapolis, our innocent immigrant neighbours and in memory of Alex Pretti and Renee Good. Stay free.”

The lyrics mention Good and Pretti by name.

“There were bloody footprints where mercy should have stood and two dead left to die on snow-filled streets, Alex Pretti and Renee Good,” the ‘Born in the USA’ artist sings. He also calls out Donald Trump directly, referring to ICE as “King Trump’s private army from the DHS” and “Trump’s federal thugs”.

The song plays out with Springsteen paying tribute to ICE protestors and victims, singing: “We’ll remember the names of those who died on the streets of Minneapolis.”
