Baldur’s Gate 3 is getting TV adaptation from The Last Of Us creator

6 février 2026 à 10:46

Baldur’s Gate 3 fans are rolling Nat 20s for hype after HBO confirmed it is developing a live-action TV adaptation of the fantasy gaming series.

The production company confirmed a drama based on the fantasy role-playing game (RPG) is reportedly in the works with The Last Of Us co-creator Craig Mazin at the helm.

According to Deadline, the television show will act as a sequel to the critically-acclaimed third instalment of the decades-old gaming series, which is based on the world of Dungeons & Dragons.

“After putting nearly 1,000 hours into the incredible world of Baldur’s Gate 3, it is a dream come true to be able to continue the story that Larian and Wizards of the Coast created,” Mazin said.

“I am a devoted fan of D&D and the brilliant way that Swen Vincke and his gifted team adapted it. I can’t wait to help bring Baldur’s Gate and all of its incredible characters to life with as much respect and love as we can.”

Released in 2023 and developed by Larian Studios, Baldur’s Gate 3 was almost universally praised by critics and gamers alike for its gripping story and compelling gameplay.

It was also praised for its LGBTQ+ representation and progressive character customisation options, allowing players to create transgender or non-binary characters.

While details on the plot of the series are slim at the moment, it will reportedly take place immediately after the events of the game, with its main characters – old and new – dealing with the ramifications of the game’s finale.

Mazin is attached to create, write, executive produce, and showrun the TV adaptation. He will co-produce alongside Jacqueline Lesko, Cecil O’Connor, and Hasbro Entertainment’s Gabriel Marano.

Also joining the team as consultant is Chris Perkins, former head of story at Wizards of the Coast, which operates the D&D game universe.

Francesca Orsi, head of HBO’s drama programming, said the company was “thrilled” to help bring the Forgotten Realms to the television screen alongside Mazin.

“His deep and long-standing passion for the source material, paired with his remarkable talent for building immersive worlds filled with rich, compelling characters, promises groundbreaking results.”

The series will reportedly co-exist alongside The Forgotten Realms, a live-action Dungeons & Dragons series produced by Shawn Levy for Netflix.

Hasbro Entertainment’s Gabriel Marano said fans had been “eagerly awaiting” to discover what happens following the chaotic events of Baldur’s Gate 3, adding: “We could not ask for better partners than HBO and the incomparable Craig Mazin to build this world with.”

Billie Eilish’s brother Finneas claps back at ‘old white men’ after anti-ICE speech

6 février 2026 à 10:54

Finneas, the brother of Billie Eilish, has clapped back at “very powerful old white men” who are angry at his sister’s anti-Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) speech at the Grammys.

On Sunday (1 February) Eilish and Finneas won the Song of the Year award for “Wildflower” from Eilish’s album, Hit Me Hard and Soft. Collectively the brother-sister pair have won 10 Grammys together.

Taking to the stage to collect the award Eilish and Finneas both wore ‘ICE Out’ badges before the “bad guy” singer called out ICE, which has come under increased scrutiny after federal immigration agents killed two US citizens – Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti – in Minneapolis, Minnesota in January.

A federal officer fatally shot Pretti, a 37-year-old intensive care nurse, on 24 January. Good, also 37, was shot on 7 January.

“We just need to keep fighting and speaking up and protesting. Our voices really do matter, the people matter,” Eilish said during her speech before adding: “F*** ICE!”

While not the only person to call out ICE at the Grammys, Eilish has come under more scrutiny herself. US Senator Ted Cruz referenced her during a Senate hearing on the Netflix-Warner Bros Discovery merger. Regarding the enthusiastic response Eilish received at the awards ceremony Cruz said: “You see entertainers leap to their feet, clapping so excitedly at the notion that America is fundamentally illegitimate, it starts to convey that the entertainment world is deeply corrupt.”

People have roasted Emily Austin, a MAGA influencer and journalist after she shared her response to Eilish’s speech.

Responding to Cruz and others on Threads on Thursday (5 February) Finneas wrote: “Seeing a lot of very powerful old white men outraged about what my 24-year-old sister said during her acceptance speech. We can literally see your names in the Epstein files.” So far Cruz’s name has not been mentioned in the Epstein files that have been released.

Finneas later responded to an opinion piece from USA Today calling for artists to stay out of politics. The Oscar-winning producer posted on Threads: “You just can’t do both. You can’t say it doesn’t matter what musicians or celebrities say or think but then talk about it for days. You’re out here making it matter. I’ll keep speaking up especially if it keeps bothering you.”

As someone observed in the responses to Finneas’ later post: “Trump literally was just a celebrity before he became a politician. Lmao.” LMAO indeed.
