Solution 1 : a = u'éàùî'; print a.encode('ascii', 'xmlcharrefreplace')

Solution 2 : boucler sur les caractères et passer par htmlentitydefs.codepoint2name   (http://docs.python.org/library/htmllib.html#module-htmlentitydefs)
